Summary of Q3 2026 Pre-Development
Ultimate Farmer remains in pre-development. During the third quarter of 2026, our work continued on the technical systems that will form the foundation of the wider farming simulation, with particular focus on vehicle development, terrain and vegetation interaction, and the systems connecting soil conditions with crop behaviour.
Q3 also brought several important project milestones. Our first test tractor moved further into implementation, development of the ground and terrain system expanded, discussions with agricultural machinery manufacturers progressed, and the project roadmap was updated with a planned PC release in 2029.
This update summarises progress across those areas.
Test Tractor and Vehicle Systems
One of the main areas of development during Q3 was our first test tractor, created specifically as a development platform for Ultimate Farmer.
Following completion of the vehicle model, work progressed towards its final implementation in Unreal Engine and integration with our custom vehicle physics framework. The tractor provides a controlled platform on which the underlying vehicle systems can be developed, tested and refined before being adapted to the wider machinery lineup.
Our vehicle architecture continues to be developed around individual mechanical characteristics rather than applying a universal handling model across every machine. This includes systems relating to vehicle weight, weight transfer, traction, suspension, drivetrain behaviour, gearing, differentials, clutch characteristics and mechanical resistance.
Developing these systems around a dedicated test vehicle allows individual components to be evaluated together before the technology is expanded across tractors and other agricultural machinery.
As with the other core simulation systems currently under development, vehicle physics remain subject to continued testing and iteration.
Ground, Terrain and Crop Systems
Development of the ground and terrain system also progressed significantly during Q3.
The system is being designed to connect the condition of the soil with vegetation, crops and machinery interaction. Rather than treating the field surface purely as a visual layer, different areas of the ground will be capable of storing data that influences what happens above them.
Moisture is among the first parameters being implemented. Differences in soil moisture will influence vegetation and crop condition locally, allowing plants to develop differently depending on conditions within individual areas of a field.
As development continues, additional parameters including fertilisation, diseases and pests are planned to become part of the same system.
The objective is to create a connected simulation in which changes occurring within the soil have visible and functional consequences above ground. Crop condition will therefore be capable of varying across a field rather than existing as a single uniform state.
Machinery Interaction with Vegetation
Another part of the terrain work focuses on allowing machinery to interact directly with vegetation.
Current development allows changes to take place close to real time as machinery moves through the environment. Driving across grass, for example, can leave vegetation visibly flattened behind the vehicle, while working the same area with a cultivator can remove the vegetation.
These interactions are being developed as part of the wider terrain architecture rather than as isolated visual effects.
Over time, this will allow machinery, vegetation, soil conditions and agricultural operations to operate as interconnected parts of the same simulation.
Machinery Lineup and Manufacturer Discussions
Planning of the machinery lineup continued throughout Q3 alongside discussions with agricultural machinery manufacturers.
These discussions form part of the longer-term process of determining which manufacturers, machines and equipment may ultimately be represented in Ultimate Farmer.
At the same time, development of the underlying vehicle technology continues independently using our test tractor. This means the physics, mechanical and functional systems can be developed before being adapted to the individual characteristics of licensed machinery introduced later in production.
The intention is for different machines to retain their own characteristics rather than simply sharing identical behaviour beneath different models.
Manufacturer discussions and machinery planning remain ongoing.
Development Roadmap
During Q3 we also updated the longer-term development roadmap for Ultimate Farmer.
The game is currently scheduled to come to PC in 2029.
Establishing this target gives the project a defined production timeframe as we progress through the remaining stages of pre-development and towards full production.
Ultimate Farmer is being built around a number of interconnected systems, including vehicle physics, machinery functionality, terrain interaction, soil simulation, crop development, environments and wider agricultural processes.
Our current priority remains developing and validating these foundations before significantly increasing the scale of content and gameplay production.
Looking ahead, we are currently aiming to share the first gameplay footage from Ultimate Farmer towards the end of Q4 2026. This will provide the first opportunity to see some of the systems developed throughout pre-development beginning to operate together within the game.
As always at this stage of development, this remains a development target and may change depending on progress during the quarter.
Community Milestone
Q3 also marked an important milestone outside development itself, with the Ultimate Farmer Facebook community reaching 10,000 followers.
For a project still in pre-development, reaching that audience represents an important indication of the interest surrounding Ultimate Farmer and the community developing around the project.
Feedback, discussions, videos and continued engagement with our development updates have helped the project reach new audiences while development continues behind the scenes.
We greatly appreciate everyone who has followed Ultimate Farmer since its original announcement, as well as those who have joined the community since.
Project Status
Ultimate Farmer remains in pre-development. Q3 progress concentrated on:
Continuing implementation of the first test tractor
Expanding the custom vehicle physics and mechanical systems
Developing the ground and terrain simulation architecture
Connecting soil conditions with vegetation and crop behaviour
Implementing localised moisture data as an initial soil parameter
Developing machinery interaction with vegetation
Planning the wider machinery lineup and progressing manufacturer discussions
Establishing 2029 as the current planned PC release target
Thank you to everyone continuing to follow the development of Ultimate Farmer and supporting the project as we build towards the next stage.
